Overview

Vitiligo surgery is effective method for treatment of selected, resistant vitiligo patch which is not responding to medical treatment. Disease has to be in a stable state in last 6 months.

Procedure

Many procedures such as a punch grafting, blister epidermal grafting, split thickness skin grafting, autologous cultured / non-cultured epidermal skin grafting, auto logos melanocyte transplant, may be used.

Duration

Depending on the extent of patch surgery, it may last 1 hour to 4 hours

Anesthesia

Usually done under local anesthesia however large areas may need general anesthesia.

Stay

Surgery on face and hand can be done under the daycare procedure. Areas like lower limb and foot may require hospitalization for 2 to 3 days.

Infection, hallowing effect, imperfect color match
