Techniques for Hair Removal

In olden days females used method like shaving, threading, waxing, bleaching, electrolysis and other creams to remove their unwanted hair. Removal was time consuming, temporary and quite irritable. Today we have easier method of hair removal, ie. Laser Hair Removal.

What is Laser Hair Removal?

Laser is a collimated beam of light which damages the hair root and hair bulb, as this is the target of laser beam. The energy in the laser destroys the hair. Normally laser used are Ruby Laser(694µ), Alaxendrite Laser(755µ) and Diode Laser(1080µ). They all work on dark hair only, white hairs cannot be removed. Diode laser is very safe in all types of skin color. Hair cycles are of three stages 1. Anagen (active growth) 2.Catagen (falling stage) and 3.Telogen (dormant). Laser light destroys hair in Anagen phase, hence multiple stages are required to get rid of all the hairs. Hair growth is also determined by hormone level in your body.

Procedure of Laser Hair Removal

The target area is cleaned by removing the hairs, then a cooling treatment is given and the skin is exposed to laser. A tingling feeling happens which is quite tolerable however, persons more sensitive may need anesthetic cream application before the procedure.

Care after laser procedure

Sensitive skin needs to be protected from sun exposer. Sunscreen application thereby becomes mandatory. No facial creams need to be applied during hair removal treatment.
